Here is a fortress, surrounded by deepening night, asking: Is the dark a refuge for you, too?
Darkness invites me inward. It speaks to the need for periods of rest and destimulation, or the need to build a symbolic fortress around oneself during challenging times. A place to revel in boundaries. A place to gather strength again for whatever comes next.
It is about knowing when to pull back and take care of myself, so that I can emerge refreshed from times that feel murky and malforming of the self.
The text "Is the dark a refuge for you too?" Was written by Kate Horowitz in our collaborative story project "Witch Post", which ispired this piece of art and the series "Mortal Magic", a series about coping during dark times.
